چکیده

The changes produced by anaerobic growth of bacteria in a simple carbohydrate medium are those resulting from reactions of the hydrolytic oxidationreduction type, the products of fermentation commonly including volatile and non-volatile acids, neutral volatile compounds, and gases. Thus Harden (1901) showed that fermentation of glucose, fructose, galactose, or arabinose by Bacterium coli • yielded lactic, acetic, and succinic acids, alcohol, carbon dioxide and hydrogen. Organisms growing on a carbohydrate medium aerobically, on the other hand, derive their energy from direct oxidation of the substrate by molecular oxygen, accompanied by the output of carbon dioxide.

Investigating the Effect of Soil Organic Matter on Gypsum Block Calibration for Measuring Soil Volumetric Moisture Content

Continuous soil moisture assessment and evaluation is essential for irrigation management and planning. One of the common methods for measuring the moisture content of the soil is the use of a gypsum block. The use of gypsum blocks in some cases, including the presence of organic matter in soil, may cause an error in the measurement of moisture. For this purpose, a laboratory study was conducte...

Bacterial community analysis of anoxic/aeration (A/O) system in a combined process for gibberellin wastewater treatment

Gibberellin wastewater cannot be directly discharged without treatment due to its high concentrations of sulfate and organic compounds and strong acidity. Therefore, multi-stage anaerobic bioreactor + micro-aerobic+ anoxic/aeration (A/O) + biological contact oxidation combined processes are used to treat gibberellin wastewater. However, knowledge of the treatment effects of the A/O process and ...

ارزیابی اثر فعالیت‌های کشاورزی بر تنوع و فراوانی باکتری‌های خاک‌زی

Among the biodiversity of soil microorganisms, bacteria have the basic role in soil functions. In order to determine the diversity and abundance of soil bacteria in arid regions, and also to study the effect of agricultural practices on them, a study was conducted in winter wheat fields on Shirvan, Mashhad and Gonabad. In each region, high and low input fields of winter wheat and a natural syst...

Effects of Thyme Essential Oil and Disodium Fumarate on Ruminal Fermentation Characteristics, Microbial Population and Nutrient Flow in a Dual Flow Continuous Culture System

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of di-sodium fumarate (DSF) and thyme essential oil (TEO) solely and simultaneously on ruminal fermentation properties and microbial abundance. A dual-flow continuous culture system (DFCC) with eight 1400-mL fermenters was used in a period of 12 d that divided to 9 d for adaptation and 3 d for sampling. Fermenters were fed 100 g d...
